      Hi. American here.

      Fuck You to.

      What country are you from?

Also as an American I fully condemn this administration, ice and everything the orange man has done from the bottom of my soul!

You think we as a people like this? No! We don’t! We see what is happening! We understand. And we hate it!

Then accept the fuck yous you’re getting, get used to the animosity, and vote to fix your government. Your country’s horseshit spills over everywhere and we’re tired of having to step through the shit left behind by your administration.

        we’re not special

we’ve treated numerous people in various nations the same way

not every Russian is pro pootin but plenty in the US cheer at deaths over the war with Ukraine and America’s current behavior affects many more directly than that conflict

best you get used to being treated like the heel, it’s only going to get worse

You’ve been saying that for years. I’ve yet to see any pushback, now the rallies are a good start but they have to go on day after day after day after day after day until the situation improves, not one weekend every six months.

We’ll see in November when the Republicans will win the midterms because people vote R and the other part is too lazy to get off of their asses to vote. Is that the reckoning you’re talking about?

              No. It is entirely relevant.

Your country has participated in military interventions, surveillance, controversial policing, treatment of Indigenous peoples, immigration detention, and plenty of other policies that deserve criticism. Yet somehow America is uniquely evil while your country gets a pass. That’s selective outrage.

So yes, I’m going to defend my country when someone from another country spends their time lecturing Americans as if theirs is fundamentally different. It isn’t. The differences are often a matter of degree, not kind.

You can criticize America all you want. I have no issue with that. What I take issue with is the double standard. If you’re going to condemn the United States for something, then apply that exact same standard to your own country. If you don’t, then this isn’t about principles, it’s about your bias against America.

Don’t expect Americans to quietly nod along while foreigners endlessly dump on their country. We’re allowed to push back, we’re allowed to defend it, and we’re allowed to point out when the criticism comes from someone whose own country engages in many of the same practices they’re denouncing. If you don’t like being called out for that, the solution isn’t to tell Americans to stop defending their country, it’s to apply your standards consistently.

Nothing. What about anything? Your country is a shithole just like mine.

It’s full of deep-rooted nationalism, political cults that dictate policy, and extreme right-wing politicians pulling the same crap we have here in America.

You have extreme homelessness in your capital, predatory lending practices, and billionaires in the top 1% who don’t pay their fair share of taxes.

Your universal healthcare is pretty good, though. I can’t say anything bad about that.

Yeah, that’s not how any of that works, even here in the US.

Which is why you’re a self-loathing fucktard, and why I chose to engage with you. It was high time someone pushed back against your type.

You’re all high and mighty with the whole “fuck America” routine. Well, fuck you too, buddy.

You don’t know shit about America, Americans, our politics, or what it means to be an American. And it’s not even worth explaining it to you, because no matter what anyone says, you’re still going to think you’re better.

But deep down, you know full well how much worse the backwater human rights catastrophe you take your morning dump in really is.

Which is why you’re a self-loathing fucktard, and why I chose to engage with you. It was high time someone pushed back against your type.

My type being? The “self loathing fucktard” who is aware of the historically racist, imperialist, and more recently highly “fuck over everyone except the rich” attitude my country has taken and thus hates it for it? Should I be more like you, ignorant to the facts and just being a blind patriot?

You don’t know shit about America, Americans, our politics, or what it means to be an American. And it’s not even worth explaining it to you, because no matter what anyone says, you’re still going to think you’re better.

That’s some quality projection my guy. If anything, with all the America centric global news I probably know more about your country, citizens and what it means to be one than you know about mine. Especially considering Americas dogshit educational system.

But deep down, you know full well how much worse the backwater human rights catastrophe you take your morning dump in really is.

Considering how america got placed 24th in the world happiness report I really have to question if you are wrong on purpose or by mistake. Seeing (the increasing in quality of, I’ll give you that) your ragebait I’m assuming the former

Anyways that’s I’ll the time of day I’m willing to give you. Go reply all you want I don’t give a fuck, just try and be a better person tomorrow, if not for someone else do it for your own good - cause as a typical American you yourself are most likely priority nr 1

We actually are. If what you’re expecting is bloody revolution that’s not going to happen. And I understand from the outside looking in it seems like we’re doing nothing but that isn’t the case.

As an American once again, I condemn the actions of our current sitting president. Ice is a modern-day Gestapo.

          This is a false dichotomy.

You can support enforcing immigration law while still opposing how ICE conducts some of its operations. In fact, that’s the position many people take.

The strongest opposition to ICE comes from the political left, particularly progressive Democrats and immigration advocacy groups. Their criticism is generally directed at tactics like large-scale raids, detention practices, due process concerns, and the scope of the agency’s authority. Some want major reforms; a smaller number want the agency abolished altogether.

Meanwhile, Republicans and many conservatives overwhelmingly support ICE, arguing that it’s carrying out laws passed by Congress and is an essential part of immigration enforcement.

So pretending there’s some universal consensus either for or against ICE is just inaccurate. The agency is one of the most politically polarized institutions in the country. Whether someone supports it, wants it reformed, or wants it abolished depends largely on their political views, not on some objective, settled fact.

I won’t quote your comment because you deleted it, and it wasn’t that bad.

But I’ll respond to it anyway.

The news you get from whatever state media you’re watching, or whatever you happen to see here on Lemmy or Reddit, is not representative of the country as a whole.

There is significant opposition to what is happening in my country right now. We do not like ICE as a whole. We do not consider it legitimate law enforcement. To many of us, it has become a modern-day Gestapo.

They are widely disliked across many communities in America. Many people view those employed by ICE as the bottom-of-the-barrel refuse of our society.

If you’d like to understand what is actually happening in our country, I suggest doing something more than toilet-bowl research.
