That’s why CR7 is not part of the spanish squad, but various catalonians, argonians, galicians, and yes, basque players are part of the spanish squad, and they got there through the rich history of football the country has.

You see… other countries don’t just have football. We have growing economies, scientific achievements, cultural achievements and politicians that are not an international embarrassment. Argentina was in constant crisis for decades, had 200% inflation, growing crime and corruption. So no, people don’t really think of Argentina with envy. Personally, I’m glad they have football to help them get through tough times but that’s because I have some friends form Argentina and I visited it couple of years ago. Most people don’t think about it at all.
