Its hard to argue against that because the socialist movement globally petered out and capitalism suffocated any remaining countries into joining the market one way or another. So the idea that you need to eradicate capitalism fully worldwide for it to work and survive was infact correct. Or at least the opposite hasn’t been proven to work either.
I find his writing to actually be quite good. At least good enough to not warrant discarding as a joke
Trotsky’s interpretation of that was that the USSR should’ve retained war communism, and made war on europe when it was at its weakest after the civil war. Nearly everyone in the USSR’s leadership correctly opposed that, and thought that economic construction was their primary task.
