Imagine a one dimensional spectrum where a point exists on one end. But that point has such cognitive dissonance and is surrounded by hate, fear, and ignorance to the point where “no, absolutely not. Being on that end of the spectrum isn’t real” and so whenever they see points that claim to be on that end, it’s a personal affront to them, and so beat them up.
