Flat earthers are a really good crystalization of everything wrong in our society. Its an extremely ignorant and psychically damaging belief structure that breeds ignorance, cynicism, conspiracism, and mysticism. All of these things feed directly towards everything pretty much everyone here stands against: acceptance, logic, benevolence and

Its the end state of a broken, unfunctioning society.

I remember chatting with a flat earther once who almost talked himself out of it because he was describing to me the curvature of the earth from his window seat on a flight he took to Thailand to find his wife, and I was like tails-trolled

      Agreed 100%.

Flat Earth is also a christian evangelist belief, which becomes clear once one looks past the surface layer of it.

According to my mom (who got it from Ken Ham) the Bible actually teaches that the is round. It’s part of their attempt to say that science and Bible don’t actually disagree on things that matter.

They don’t lead with it outwardly, because a lot of flat earth used to be/still is ironic. But once you go in there a bit, you see the signs soon enough. Like them telling you to pray over it if the experiment you are doing doesn’t prove the earth is flat etc.
