Flat earthers are a really good crystalization of everything wrong in our society. Its an extremely ignorant and psychically damaging belief structure that breeds ignorance, cynicism, conspiracism, and mysticism. All of these things feed directly towards everything pretty much everyone here stands against: acceptance, logic, benevolence and

Its the end state of a broken, unfunctioning society.

I remember chatting with a flat earther once who almost talked himself out of it because he was describing to me the curvature of the earth from his window seat on a flight he took to Thailand to find his wife, and I was like tails-trolled

      Agreed 100%.

Flat Earth is also a christian evangelist belief, which becomes clear once one looks past the surface layer of it.

According to my mom (who got it from Ken Ham) the Bible actually teaches that the is round. It’s part of their attempt to say that science and Bible don’t actually disagree on things that matter.

They don’t lead with it outwardly, because a lot of flat earth used to be/still is ironic. But once you go in there a bit, you see the signs soon enough. Like them telling you to pray over it if the experiment you are doing doesn’t prove the earth is flat etc.

Funnily enough, the cities that come closest to that are all in China. To most Westerners, setting foot in Shenzhen would feel like stepping into the future.

We know, we’re all jealous chomsky-yes-honey

Too bad my only marketable skill is i can cook pretty adequately. American food has such a shit reputation i feel like even if I were declared Best Chef in Country (when i’m not even the best chef on this site) China still wouldn’t want me bawllin-sad

I can cook all kinds of other cuisine… but it’ll all be americanized ooooooooooooooh

I guarantee you that there’s a booming business in China for burgers because the USA is still romanticized by the previous decades of soft power propaganda, and also there’s a fuckton of American immigrants, travelling workers, and so forth

I’d shoot myself if I had to just cook burgers though. That’s one of the worst menus at my job lol I’m so glad I don’t have to do it anymore running the vegan station. Grilling the burgers themselves isn’t so bad but they insist we serve a tray of plain burgers AND a tray of pre-cheesed, partially melted cheese burgers, and that’s a pain in the fucking ASS

I literally had two flat-earthers get into a yelling match over which theory of flat earth was correct. It is absolutely rampant out here in the sticks.

It’s a pipeline to fascism. I’d agree that it’s quaint if there was even a single person who was only a flat earther with no other awful beliefs mixed in, but I don’t think they exist.

Every one of these freaks, start digging down into their beliefs - it’s always antisemitism.

Sometimes it’s not antisemitism yet. If they’ve just started out they haven’t gotten to the part where they need to ascribe a motive and identity to the shadowy elite that isnt just rich people as a class.

Friday molotov just for the love of the game 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Considering it is impossible having sure and reality can even be temporally a simulation (or dream) , we cant have sure Earth is round, flat, real, virtual,…

Maybe we are more precise when we say Earth should be round on a perfect/rational (non chaotic and previsible) reality.
