Do the democrats have something to run on? I agree on voting blue across the board but you can’t really pretend that there’s been anything inspiring coming out of the DNC in the past few years. Their entire platform is reduced to “we’re not Trump” and that’s hardly an inspiring message
The appeal of the Dems is the twenty or so socialists. That’s it.
Indeed and the DNC bend over backwards to make sure they get as little visibility as possible. Instead of learning from the success of “socialist” candidates - which really are barely left of center by European norms - they persist in trying to chase this mythical idea of the American centrist… So instead of trying to appeal to the left with actual policy, they try to pander to moderate republicans
It would be pretty easy to run on: pulling out of the war with Iran (obviously they need to agree, but I bet they’d be a lot more amenable if we stopped all attacks and removed a lot of military personnel/property in the neighborhood); dismantling ICE/CBP/the concentration camps and holding former officers fully responsible for their conduct; cutting tariffs; and funding the hell out of food stamps and healthcare as a start.
They’d just have to want to do all that, which might be the rub.
Edit: I don’t know how I forgot about fully cutting funding to Israel, with the exception of humanitarian aid to the victims of the Israeli government and settler violence. That’s even lower on their agenda, but it would be the right thing to do, both politically and morally.
