I’m on vacation in Switzerland right now and I’ve seen this in a bunch of people’s home bathrooms.

Maybe because you’re less likely to accidentally whack the roll and knock it to the floor? 🤷‍♂️

It actually doesn’t. They have this absurdly high quality toilet paper that’s about 1.5x longer than the squares I always see in Canada, and it’s got to be like quilted 3 ply. It unrolls reluctantly and I swear I hear an angel chorus every time I pull a sheet.

Bro I have been to Europe once in my life and one of the few things my shattered psyche committed to long term memory was the multi-ply toilet paper. Like, the middle layer was a different material from the outer layers. These mfs have bidets AND good tp dude we live in the stone age on this side of the pond

Interesting. I usually go for the charmin strong, but even it, when I place it on my toilet paper holder which holds 5 rolls vertically like that. If the first glued on roll comes loose it’ll unravel annoyingly.

Most of them were relatives we stayed with.

There were only like, maybe 7 occasions where I broke into a random home to inspect the toilet.

Related to why I’m not allowed back into Belgium ever again.
