    Because all I need to know is if my battery looks low enough to worry about, like the gas tank gauges on most cars. Nobody needs to see the exact number of gallons or liters of fuel they have left. “Close to F great, middle fine, close to E bad” has been doing the trick for well over a century. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with people who like seeing an exact battery percentage, but it really isn’t necessary.

      By seeing your battery percentage number displayed, you’re able to tell if your battery suddenly starts to drain faster than usual. This would be harder without the battery percentage. This indicator helps you to know if an app or process is significantly draining battery life so you can fix it. Although I guess most phone users aren’t bothered by this I’d imagine
