Digital consumer rights should be enshrined and digital mediums should have the same ownership as physical. Can I own it DRM free? No sign in? Can I sell it, trade it, gift it to a friend? If no, then fine them for each instance that was sold falsely as ownership.
Their platform should be forced to be open. While the above should also happen, they should additionally be required to allow other marketplaces to sell/manufacture physical/digital media and be used on their platform.
Regardless, will that happen? No. And that’s why if things are going to be all digital, I’d rather go to the open platform that at least respects me a little more, albeit not perfectly. I’d rather buy from GoG and indie developers directly if possible. I have no will to get GTA6, a game that has shown no gameplay to date. At best, I’ll wait for the PC launch.
