How would you even trick someone into believing that they were physically abused?
Selectively focusing on past incidents where a parent was neglegent or forceful, then extrapolating some broad theory of hostile intent. Mischaracterizing social non-conformity with grooming or humiliation or violence. Straight up incepting false memories by insisting they occurred and you just forgot about them.
The Satanic Panic cases of the 80s was a good example of all of these in use. Young kids were then turned out to repeat lines they were trained to say, in order to press cases against their parents. And it took decades to undo the damage.
The irony is that these incidents were fully believed by future Fox News families. And they’re part of what drove them insane
