Very strange when they dropped the slogan, like being honest about being evil got them brownie points.
I thought it was strange too, until I realized - I think the slogan change was a deliberate message to court a specific type of investor/customer: Epstein’s billionaire pedophile friends.
They didn’t though, despite countless articles claiming so. The only change was moving it from the foreword of their Code of Conduct to the closing statement. Sure, you can argue all day if the foreword or closing statement is “more impactful”, but it was never removed.

To be clear, Google is an evil company who never abided by that slogan. But it’s just plain untrue that they removed it.

They never dropped the slogan, it’s literally still in there, it’s just a fucking byline now.

I had an older cousin that I looked up to a lot as a kid. They went to work with Google, and, over many years when we get together, kept praising Google and parroting the shit they say. They’ve left Google now for their own exploits, but still remain a Google ambassador, and somewhat frequently still posts about things that Google ships and just echo the empty shit Google says.
It’s a terrible feeling. I lost a cousin, and someone whom I looked up to. Haven’t talked to them in years and don’t really want to either. Knowing them, I’ll just be chided for not being serious about life and living.
That sucks, mate. I kinda know the feeling, I’ve got an uncle who’s a Musk bro. Poor bastard just goes quiet and looks sick whenever his politics or personal life come up, but still sees Tesla etc as this cool future corporation.
Just remember they dropped the don’t be evil when they restructured to alphabet.
They never dropped it. it is the conclusion of their ethics statement. A journalist didn’t bother to hit ctrl-f or scroll down, put out a false article, and everyone else has been parroting the lie ever since.

It was moved from the top of the code of conduct to the last paragraph. It was very prominent and referenced a few times in the document prior to the change in 2018
The closing line is the most impactful line for anyone that reads it.
Nobody reads corporate ethics statements.

No, its the whole point. One was a public facing motto that everybody knew, the other is a corporate ethics statement that nobody knows about or believes.
I wouldn’t think they could go any lower.
But they are pretty inventive, so my money is on them creating skynet and ending humanity.
