You can have the esp report itself as whatever device you want. If you already have a mouse that is allowed to be plugged in then you just have the esp report itself as that. It is a mouse at that point, the system will not know the difference.

I do not really understand the attitude towards installing on windows. It’s so much simpler than Linux. Don’t get me wrong. Updating is so much easier on Linux, but installing? No. I went to install digiKam today. Was it on pacman? No. Button for flatpak on their site though, so I’m already at the same point I would have been on windows. Click that. Error. Well wtf. K so I try through Shelly and that works fine.

Linux has sooo many ways to install. That’s not good. It’s the most common refrain I’ve heard “use your package manager!” That is never gonna work 100% of the time. Unlike windows where you always have to search for the application, download it from the website, and run it. On Linux it can be a tar.gz, a flatpak, an AppImage, a Snap, a deb, rpm, etc.

Does anyone ask what format to use to install things on windows? Or is it always “download an exe and run”? While one of the first questions a Linux newb will ask is “how do I install this?” when given twenty different install options on a software install page.

On a different note, I completely disagree with most of the authors complaints about windows and also disagree with the things he likes about windows lol. The settings menu is horrific, applications (excluding windows three different UI themes) are themed extremely consistently unlike gnome vs kde apps in plasma, the task bar is for showing running things and is a way better solution to see that something is running that I don’t want running rather than opening btop.

The author complains about titlebar actions and says they are “such basic settings virtually every operating system and desktop environment support are unavailable on Windows is indefensible.” which is laughable when Linux is only 5% of the desktop market and Mac doesn’t support them either. I use arch and I literally didn’t know kde even had those. It’s such a niche feature but this is exactly what happens with Linux users. They think something is common when it’s impossibly niche.

Also, windows explorer handles compressed files out of the box, idk how he missed that. I literally helped my wife do so on her work computer last week.

Windows sucks though. Go Linux. But seriously, being honest about shortcomings is what continues to improve Linux, let’s not pretend like it’s all sunshine and daisies.

Same with my wife. Which is why I gave her an esp32 with a program on it that makes it pretend to be a mouse. It will randomly move just like a regular mouse and the computer cannot tell it’s not actually a mouse. Just plug it in whenever you want to walk away.

Complete waste of money. Use an esp32 and write a program to pretend to be a mouse. Benefit of the esp32 is you can reuse it for whatever you want in the future, whether that’s a smart sensor for a door, or a tracking chip for luggage.

Much less resource intensive on your dev machine to just use an esp32 and write a program to pretend to be a mouse and wiggle itself. Benefit is it is completely undetectable on every platform as well.

They have enough. It’s why I stopped donating years ago.

In the USA you need hardly anything to start a company. A sole proprietorship is literally just a person saying “I am a business” and that’s that. If you’re going to sell stuff you need a state sales tax number, if you’re going to employ people you need an EIN from the IRS. Otherwise you just…start a business. Whatever that business is decides your costs. You want to clean houses? You need a bucket of cleaning supplies maybe (maybe your clients just need a helping hand and they already have the supplies!). You want to start a construction company? You’re gonna need a lot more. I’ve been trying to start my own company and honestly the hardest part isn’t the money, it’s how much stuff you have to do to get a website running and looking good, to make sure your product is good, to try to find places to sell, business cards, marketing, etc.

What year and what country? USA versions are missing a ton of features from other countries.

Tailscale is incredibly easy. Install, start, sign in on both devices. Boom. Jellyfin from anywhere

Hyundais other cars use up. Even their other brands like Kia use up. It makes no sense.

Pretty sure the Ioniq does use uwb. You can use your phone to unlock in other countries. Idk why it doesn’t work here. And with the keyfob backup it does know where the key was.

But you can still close the tailgate just fine with your keys in the truck. And guess what, the car will just unlock itself. So clearly they already have a solution.

So many contradictions in this damn car.

Also, doesn’t that device cause other issues? I’ve thought about getting it but didn’t like the compromises. Don’t remember what they were though.

Walk up to your car. Doors unlock. Open door and hit the lock button. Nothing with happen. The door lock buttons on the inside do absolutely nothing unless the key is inside of the car. It’s insanity. Like, what if I realize I didn’t lock my car and I’m outside without my keys. I have to go back into the house, get the keys, then come out and lock the car. You can’t just open the fucking die and hit the lock buttons. It’s fucking stupid.
