I was curious how common it is to be, say, a leftist in a very conservative area.

My county, family, and school are all very conservative. It makes it a bit intimidating to engage in any political discussion. I also rarely get to hear leftist opinion anywhere in person, which means i need to devote a lot of time to considering and thinking about arguments that are probably already solved.

Are you, or have you been, in a similar situation?

Same tactics of harassment and intimidation are being used by both the far left and far right. Y’all want to be tough guys and have everyone else fear you. Because you don’t have any actual ideas, the internet has successfully directed your dissatisfaction into hatred of convenient scapegoats.

The only major difference between the far right and far left is they disagree on scapegoats. And if the JD Vance / Tucker Carlson / Candace Owens faction of the far right get their way, both the far right and far left will agree on the scapegoat.

Sure, you buy from different merch stores and have different slogans, but you’re all disconnected from reality, “doing your own research” on the internet, denying science and facts when it conflicts with your political narrative, and you all spend more time attacking liberals than discussing any policies you want. It’s the same hateful politics, and it’s very likely a lot of “leftists” will be voting Republican if that party goes down the antisemitism path.

I think you’ve become desensitized to the stochastic terrorism and the online harassment that have become commonplace from the online left.

Open any Luigi thread. They’re mostly just about stochastic terrorism. Look at the protests at synagogues and general harassment of Jews. Plenty of threads dedicated to rationalizing this sort of thing. “Edgy” memes about how the death of Charlies Kirk was really cool.

You’ve been convinced by your group that these are completely normal things to do. Consider how you appear to anyone outside of your group. Leftism has taken on the properties of a hate group, and any attempt to discuss this problem within your communities gets banned. You’re in a bubble that has lost it’s ability to distinguish between criticism and implied threats of violence. The edgelords on the left are just edging you into fascism.

protests at synagogues and general harassment of Jews.

when you spout easily disproven bullshit like this, I know that you’re purely agenda driven. You’re a fool.

              protest at synogogue

You mean like the one where an isreali company is promoting the sale of stolen Palestinian land? and protestors showed up? 100% called for.

Most people understand that it’s the idf and the isreali government that’s to blame for all this, but if you have a population committing a genocide, yes, there’s gonna be some people who take it personally.

                As I said before:

Plenty of threads dedicated to rationalizing this sort of thing.

You’re rationalizing being shitty towards a religious group in your community. That’s how people see you. If your goal is to protest Israel, you’d protest an Israeli embassy or consulate. Any sees that they think “those people are angry at Israel.”

When people see you protesting a synagogue, they think “those people are antisemitic.” You’re thinking of the rationalizations you’ve read on the internet, but aren’t thinking about how to be effective. Sure in your little internet group every action can be rationalized to be “just criticizing Israel”. Out there in the real world, protesting a synagogue is antisemitism. Because obviously.

And why would you choose to protest a synagogue rather than a consulate? It doesn’t help Palestinians in any way. You aren’t doing these things for Palestinians, you’re doing these things for yourself. Doing deplorable things to prove to others in your group how devoted you are to the group. To show that you’re willing to be intimidate Jews because you don’t care if you’re labeled antisemitic. You trust your group to back you up with their rationalizations and say you’re doing a great job “criticizing Israel” when you’re attacking Jews in your community.

But outside of your group, protesting a synagogue is just plain old antisemitism. Nobody gives a shit about your rationalizations.
