I also love Zettelkasten+Markdown. When I switched from Vim to Neovim, Zettelkasten was no longer compatible. Later I found Telekasten, which is basically the same and my notes directory is still named zettelkasten. :-) I got a bit lazy and stopped doing much notes and recently tried to get into the habit again. A local Git repository makes a lot of sense to save versions of the notes, but I never got into that. An online Git repository makes sense if you want have your notes on different machines, I just never needed that.
As for your script with Git in background and a delay hoping everything is synced up… I understand why this is done, but there has to be a better way.
