The irony of two ICE agents, one black and one seemingly a Cuban immigrant, racially profiling a black man and cuffing him and carting him off without ever even identifying him because they say he’s an immigrant.

It kills me how often these videos show brown and black ICE agents violating the US Constitution to abduct and beat people for being brown or black. I don’t care how much ICE pays, it’s not worth selling out your own values and everything that was supposed to be good about this country.

It’s insane that you folks seem to believe every single person who works for a genocidal regime is doing it because they’re an evil person and it just makes them happy to do evil things. It’s how a child looks at history.

People who do evil things don’t get to use the excuse they were just following orders, because they still did those things. But most people end up signing on because they need stability and an income. It’s a lot harder to whip up a genocidal army in a country with no poverty.

Plenty of people making over 400k/yr are completely horrible human beings, and they aren’t signing on for ICE because it would be a huge drop in their income. Many people living in poverty are mostly decent people and sign on because they feel they have no choice.

Understanding what leads evil groups to grow is sort of important, but if anyone dares say words with more depth and nuance than “I hates nazis!” a horde of people who have a tough time reading many words decide they must be trying to say genocide is alright and start this angsty childish shit.

And you don’t seem to understand that desperation is no excuse. Plenty of people are desperate, they don’t join the machine that makes them desperate, and make it worse for everyone else, they fight back.

Those that join The Machine are cowards, and if The Machine is as bad as MAGA, then they are also traitors and pedophiles.

This is exactly what I meant when I said anyone who dares to say words with nuance or depth gets jumped on.

I never said it was an excuse. Nothing in any of my comments says or excuses that. I very literally and directly said these people don’t get to use claiming they were just following orders as an excuse for evil actions.

Trying to understand why people sign up with groups like this is important if you want to stop them and learn how to keep the same thing from happening over and over again. Trying to understand the reasoning behind a person doing awful things isn’t excusing those things.

You’re just so full of hate that you see lots of words and they seem confusing so you get angry and think the other person is “part of the problem.” Don’t become the thing you hate. That’s how those MAGA folks act. If learning the roots of how a genocidal army forms and grows is something you think is a problem and understanding that the people doing these things are human and have human reasons for doing them, then you’re starting to see education as the enemy just as much as they do. That’s not a good thing.

Fully agree with this, but I’d like to add that signing up (without plans to sabotage) is already inexcusable (though I’m not arguing that it’s irredeemable- if we were to have a really effective denazification program, I don’t think every ICE officer is beyond rehabilitation), even if it’s understandable.

I don’t know if the word “hate” is fair, but I feel about ICE the way I’ve always felt about the US military- fuck ‘em, they’re class traitors. At least with the military, most people join at or just before age 18 and they’re shown a very utopian image of the military beforehand. People joining ICE don’t have those excuses.

Yes, they’re desperate and acting out of desperation and yes, the cause for this is both systemic and heavily supported by the bourgeoisie, who are the ultimate problem. If I don’t excuse an 18 year old for signing up to terrorize brown people in order to get healthcare and access to education, I’m not going to excuse a 35 year old for signing up for the same in order to get $50k.
