Want to know why gaming doesn’t feel fun anymore? It’s 60% the issues brought up by the commenters here.

The other 40% is how gamers are all extremely negative and it’s only been a downward trend. This is now the THIRD thread I’ve seen today about something I’ve been hyped about, and not a single one has had a positive comment. It’s all either “It’s going to be a corporate shitshow” or “You’re a bad person for even liking a game made by X company”.

And hey, the companies did it to themselves, but fuck I’m tired of the constant negativity. I’m excited for this! I don’t care! I loved the entirety of the Witcher 3, CP2077’s release was a shitshow but they more than made up for it afterwards with a stream of first fixes and then just free improvements, not to mention Phantom Liberty and now it’s like, my #2 favorite game ever. And I have a DRM free copy so I can keep it forever! I have no reason to doubt them. Sure it may be late. I don’t care. I’ll probably still love it.

I’m not going to go preorder it, or by the swag, or froth at the mouth like marketers want, but goddamn everyone is so freaking negative all the time.

Cue the standard Lemmy comments of “Did you know CDPR did X 8 years ago and you should never give them a penny” and “There was a moment in their game that didn’t land well so we should boycot it” or “it’ll be delayed so the entire studio sucks”

This is honestly a thing across the whole fediverse atm. If it’s created by a company, it’s bad. It’s hard to share about your excitement for products on here without posts getting derailed.

It’s so tiring, I’m so tired of it. I’ve honestly stopped recommending the fediverse for the time being. Everything is simply way too negative, like going to the bottom of reddit comments every time. 3 years I’ve been here but this has been just the last year where I’ve noticed it getting really bad. I’m not sure if it’s virtue signalling where people feel the need to rehash things everyone already knows in every thread, but it gets very exhausting. I know how bad gaming is, I know how bad corporations are. That’s like, 99% of threads here now, can’t we talk about Ciri in just one thread or something?

My only assumption is more and more people who are getting banned from Reddit are ending up here. And given how lax some of the instances are, it’s likely letting the negativity grow.

you know honestly, I could see that. I see several posts all the time about “was wrongly banned”. Reddit went to shit, and I know I was banned for my fair share and they love throwing around the ban hammer. But… I’m guessing not everyone was completely wrongfully banned.

What a bizarre comment. You know what CDPR did, why come here and whine about people being negative?

everyone is so freaking negative all the time

No, they’re not. You’re just unreasonable. People talk about how much they love video games all the time. When companies release good games, they celebrate and praise them; when CDPR lies and releases buggy messes, they rightfully ridicule them.

If it upsets you, email CDPR.

CDPR Messed up the launch of one game. And for many players it wasn’t even a buggy mess. I had no issues with the game, except the way cops spawn right in front of you. Then CDPR went ahead and fixed it and cyberpunk became a highly enjoyable game.

The Witcher series has been amazing from start to finish.

I’m also excited for TW4. All you’re doing is bringing 4chan style negativity to this place.

The launch of the witcher 3 was also a mess and full of bugs for a while, and I’ve heard similar of the previous witcher games. That part of the sentiment I definitely understand, they haven’t shown they’re improving on this at all.

They haven’t either shown that they leave games in a bad state, have they? Their games are very highly rated and some call them masterpieces overall. I haven’t played witcher 2 to the end but many enjoy it thoroughly, and witcher 3 has been highly regarded for so freaking long. Cyberpunk’s story, gameplay and feel is amazing, have you touched it since phantom liberty?

Like, if we remember what they did, it hypes me up. Bruh.

Also let’s not forget that they were the owners of GoG for so long either.

I know what CDPR did and they made up for it, which is a nuance most commenters don’t understand when it’s way easier to jump on the bandwagon of hating studios.

Why did I come here? This post crossed my feed, same as you I’m guessing. Why did I comment? Because I was excited to talk to people and all I saw were gripes, so I commented.

When companies release good games, they celebrate and praise them

Correct, which is what I was doing. Thankfully you came along to prove my point exactly, that there must be no positivity about games. Comments must be about how horrible all games are, and there may be no positive mentions about games! Otherwise you will absolutely get people commenting angrily about how you refuse to also be angry with them.
