I keep saying it, it’s so much better. Plus it will result in less compression mess when people insist on screencapping text 800 times in a row!!
Genuinely cool tech and I’m kinda pissed that Google just abandoned it for objectively worse webp. Especially because you can convert between JPEG and JPEG-XL pretty seamlessly. We just need CDNs to start using the format, but they won’t use it until most browsers do.
Hopefully Firefox adopting it is just a sign that Chromium isn’t far behind. Especially since (annoyingly) Firefox/Mozilla is just a Google cutout.
Also webp = webpee, who came up with that name “here bro enjoy web urine”
