I love silly little projects like this which serve no practical purpose. Programming should be fun! Although, on the topic of quirky new image formats, QOI (Quite OK Image Format) is a neat one that actually got traction and has some legitimate use cases.
Some of my most fun projects are making something that should by all means not exist. Cursed languages, the worlds most inefficient way to do x etc. People are so obsessed with shipping products now its kinda cringe
