I saw some interview with him talking about his acting. He basically likes very expressive roles, where he can do some “over the top” acting. He was talking about how he was inspired by German expressionism for some of his roles. He did tons of great movies in his career. Adaptation or Bringing out the Dead being some of them.
He’s been the perfect choice for every major role he’s done and been iconic for it. Everything from matrix to bill and teds to cyberpunk would have been worse with any other actor.
Just because he’s admittedly less flexible doesn’t mean he’s bad at it.
Idk man. I’m a big Keanu fan and I knew as a kid watching The Matrix for the first time that he was not convincing as an actor. Entertaining, absolutely. Skilled, especially in action choreography, no doubt. But I feel like his roles in movies like the John Wick series (where you aren’t expected to take it super seriously) are the only ones where he doesn’t stick out next to even lesser known actors as heavy handed with his acting.
I think in The Matrix the fact that he stands out as a little different and inconsistent adds significantly to the allegory of the movie. I really don’t think the main character in a 90’s movie about the trans experience calls for someone who blends in.
That said he doesn’t stand out all that much. For example, Sandler would be, while i think hilarious(at the time), a completely narrative breaking choice. On the other side, DiCaprio would have “acted” well but broken it as badly by following the assignment too well(as not to do so at all).
Sidenote: I think Face Off is a perfect embodiment of this sentiment. An objectively terrible movie with a monumentally dumb premise, and his acting is what takes it from unwatchable to downright fun.
Except he’s not a bad actor. He’s the only good part of the bad movies he’s in. I’d argue he’s one of the best actors.

If you’re talking cage yes he’s a good actor. Keanu is straight up a terrible actor
I don’t get it.

yes, I was talking about Cage. I like Keanu, don’t get me wrong, he’s great at performing action choreography, but no, he is not a good actor.
Cage, on the other hand, I don’t think I have ever seen that man not give a role his all.
What else would a good actor do?

yes! literally, exactly!!
may i suggest…Ghost Rider 2?
Cage gives 100% whether the role needs it or not and that’s why I love him.
