Well… yeah, you can see it in the dumpster fires they call updates.

Clicking the start menu now results in literally 20 seconds of nothing until the apps appear. Even typing “excel” does nothing for about the same time. It is hot garbage.
I keep seeing people say this. I haven’t seen any lag in the start menu. What are you running on? A 5400 rpm drive?
The computer that lags like this is an HP Elitebook 645 running Win 11 Enterprise. It has a Ryzen AMD 7 Pro 7730 with 16GB RAM. My drive is a 512GB WD SN740 SSD NVMe. It’s not cutting edge, but it’s fair to expect the OS to perform pretty seamlessly.
Well I guess if you’re not experiencing lag, then we’re all good.
I have two windows 11 machines, both from work. The potent machine experiences this bug. The low-end Thinkpad shows the apps instantly.
No clue why they behave differently, but they do
Could be that the OS looks at the lower end machine specs and decides ahead of time it can’t run all the extra stuff where the higher end machine gets over the line and runs it, or it could be something the sysadmins did since they’re work machines. No way to know without the source code which we won’t get.
Does Microsoft do A B testing?
It’s much more responsive on my machine when I disable windows search indexer and superfetch (which I do anyway)
I had a work machine a decade ago that both the Start menu and Outlook were broken on until I turned off indexing.
I don’t remember this many bad updates in a while…now it seems like every patch Tues that roles around has broken shit in it.
