Under the FTC’s “Click to Cancel” rule, businesses would’ve had make it as easy to cancel subscriptions as it is to sign up. An appeals court has now struck that measure down.
Does putting a stop payment no longer work? That’s always been a nice “fuck you, let me cancel” option.
Doesn’t that only work on pre authorized payments from a bank account, not a credit card?
If companies make cancelling a pain, you can use Privacy.com to make virtual cards that are easy to disable or limit as you see fit. Downside is it’s basically debit passthrough, so no credit card points or protection, but still can be handy situationally.
Big limitation with privacy.com is that it requires US bank account.
