“Are You Being Served - The Movie”. No laugh-track made it seem weird/off but I still laughed out loud several times. Good old show,
Star Trek Voyager. Hilariously I see I’m not alone in here.
The plan is to then move onto post-Voyager shows none of which I’ve watched at all (this is probably my third time through everything up to Voyager, though.) I started with TOS maybe three years ago? Taking my time.

Just finished Season 4 of The Bear.
It’s helping me work through some stuff.
I just finished Silo Season 3 Apple seems like the only one doing prestige TV anymore.
I think HBO is still putting out a lot of prestige TV (The Pitt, DTF St Louis, Hacks, Lanterns, HOTD, AKotSK, etc), but Apple is definitely putting out hit after hit after hit (Widow’s Bay, Shrinking, Slow Horses, Margo’s Got Money Troubles, etc).
Both are going to win big this weekend at the Emmys.
I feel like HBO has lost at least some of their magic. Still good, but a downturn. I was an early fan of Apple when they were doing only esoteric sci-fi that no one watched. I was surprised how small of the streaming marketshare it is, but not really.
Overall I’m definitely impressed with the content Apple has put out. I hesitate to say HBO has lost their magic, but I could see someone prefer Apple’s offerings over HBO’s, especially if we only look at recent and not the full backlog.
I was really happy how this season went. After getting nervous by how the season started and feeling like we weren’t going to get anywhere, it really went all out and we got so much lore and backstory. Very excited for S4.
Yeah, the first half using the amnesia trope kinda made me lose interest, but damn did the last 2 episodes more than make up for it.
I never quite hated the amnesia thing, and I felt that it ended up being important to the main plot, as opposed to just dragging out the episodes. That really saved the first half of the season for me. I didn’t know how they were going to end the show withing just 1 more season, but with the pace of the second half and all the pre-silo backstory out of the way, I’m hoping S4 goes pretty non-stop resolving things.
I was surprised to find myself feeling sympathy for Dr. Victor. He was not evil, just misguided. The “artifact” of his dead daughter’s photo that he couldn’t let go of…Damn. It was all for naught because he still remembers… Hundreds of years later.
Pure tragedy. Pure cinema.
Yeah, I don’t want to keep getting into spoiler territory for those not caught up. I’m still curious to see what happened exactly to some of the personalities in the interim period to make them do the things they ended up doing.
The S4 trailer have a nice teaser about his that season will start now based on the events of the S3 finale, so I like that the session didn’t end in cliffhanger.
Is Collin Hanks’s character still alive? Because I’d love to see him eat shit in a post apocalyptic wasteland.

He appears for a second in the S4 trailer staring at news reports on a big monitor, so I can’t say he’s for sure alive at present, but I would say he likely is. The fact everyone was at the silos at exactly the right time seems to imply he knew what was going to happen, so I feel he’s due some retribution.
So many elevators! I know, right?
Seeing an elevator was maybe the biggest shock of the season 😂
I just started watching but I the writing and world building seemed a little underwhelming to how good its rep was, if I didnt like the first few episodes should I keep watching or just not my taste?
It reminds me a bit of Fallout, but more if you were one of the NPCs in the vault discovering things the hard way rather than as the MC walking into the situation after all the damage was done with a lot of outside knowledge. It does a lot of simmering, big reveal, repeat.
Season 3 is half in the past, and that’s when things start to make sense on a big scale. I thought that made it fun overall. It feels a bit like a post apocalypse mystery rather than a typical action oriented story.
Im definitely looking for mystery, I suppose I just didnt like any character much yet but I’ll keep watching
The main character isn’t introduced until episode three
Juliett the blonde women I assume, thats till where I had watched. I’ll definitely watch till the end of s01 see if I like it
I was into it with Rashida Jones too. Good shows are often good because they have a slow burn. It’s not much of an arch without it. And it makes the peak more climactic, IMO. It was a surprising death out of the gate. It reminded me of Ned Stark. Rebecca Ferguson makes a great tomboy take-no-shit rosey the riveter type. Sometimes I feel like I can hear her accent underneath the dialogue, but the emotional acting is definitely there.
I went back and read some episode recaps looking to tell you which episode it really kicks in to gear. That number I think may be a bit discouraging if I put it that way, but instead I’ll say that dang near everything that happens is a clue and the more you pay attention to those slow bits, the better the payoffs should be for you when things click into place.
Ep 4 isn’t at its full excitement level, but by then you should be eager to start learning what is going on with some of the storylines, or if not then it may be too slow of a show for you, but everything does pay off IMO.
I finished Spider Noire and it was an absolute joy

Yes i watched in black and white in purpose. I dont feel like i missed out at all, i dont even want to know in retrospect what the colors were lol I watched the show because of the vibe and black and white is a must imo

Good sci-fi dramas
Silo is scary relevant with Musk and Thiel plotting.
I liked For All Mankind, but the Cold War era propaganda became a little much, especially with the Star City spinoff. I got enough of the chauvinist crap when I was a kid in the '80s.
I loved both of those.
I think I may have to check out Star City after the very end bit of For all Mankind to get the backstory on that even though most of the Russians tick me off.

I didn’t really watch it with much seriousness in the politics, mainly just as (mainly) 2 sides being mutually antagonistic. Everything in the show requires enough suspension of disbelief, and I thought there were moments of portraying all the factions as jerks in their own right.
I kinda liked how the tech bros gave us a faction we all could hate after a while. 😁

I think Jordan is gonna go meet Antaan and crew at the diner and doesn’t want Stewart there.
Not sure why Jordan felt the need to trap Stewart in a crashed car to achieve that. Or even worse kill Stewart.
Go watch Mr Inbetween if you’re after some tight gunplay and a fun protagonist.
I need to try this again with subtitles. I had a hard time figuring out what anyone was saying, and the subtitles were not working at the time.

Watched episode 4 of Lanterns yesterday, i am really enjoying the show.
I have started my rewatch of The Addams Family (1964).
And I just watched the newest episode of Always Sunny. That may have been one of the best episodes in a while. I always love the episodes where everything that happens in the episode pisses off Dennis, especially when it is the gang confusing names and people.
Currently rewatching Community as many times as it takes until I’m no longer in my depressed state. Recently finished The Mentalist which ended up being really good. Someone else mentioned Silo which I think is an extremely good slow thriller. Severance, also by Apple TV is just an interestingly odd show that hooks you pretty quick.
