A title they stole from a book about them that came out in 1998. They were never the “greatest” before that, they were the “GI generation” or the “Silent Generation”.

I was a fan of his work from a very young age. I liked a lot of stuff from before I was born.
Yea that’s fair, I think in my head boomer is now just tied to anything predating the 70s. Honestly he looks like he was an amazing person
