There are memes like “when you have to prove that you’re jewish” or crass jokes about people standing out due to their lack of foreskin, but i remember hearing that a huge swathes of American men are circumcised - it’s like 49%. Jesus.

If literally half of every men are circumcised, why is it even a remarkable topic to Americans? How did it become such a meme?

I feel like I you answered your own question.

If roughly half of all American men are circumcised, then that means that there is a predictable binary status men can hold in that regard. People will focus on a dichotomy simply because it exists.

In my experience, the strongest critics of MGM are victims of circumcision. There are some brainwashed people who don’t see what the big deal is, but people with normal penises (and women) don’t seem to care much one way or the other.

I was circumcised and my penis seems to work just fine. I do have to say that I couldn’t care much less about the topic.

Yes, ironic that I clicked this thread at all, but I’m bored.

I’m quite capable of judging my own general satisfaction in a vacuum. I strongly suspect this matters a lot less than some people think - some men are just overly obsessed with their penises.

If you’ve never experienced having a circumcized penis (as someone old enough to be consciously aware of having a penis) how could you know it doesn’t work just fine?

The only people who can comparatively answer are people of an age of sexual maturity who have fully experienced all uses of a penis both with and without a foreskin.

Your penis doesn’t work just fine if you were circumcised. You are one of the brainwashed people I was talking about.

Read about the function of the foreskin, which is way more than a bit of hanging skin on the end of your member, it’s a sensitive and double-sided tissue that keeps your internal bits where they belong.

Sounds like you have an inferiority complex or something. It does everything I need it to and I’m completely satisfied with it. You feeling like I should not be satisfied with my penis sounds like a you problem.

While I get where you’re coming from, most people don’t understand what’s normal to others because they think their experience is normal. And most of us won’t get to experience someone else’s experiences to figure out what’s normal for others and what isn’t. You might be fully satisfied with your situation because it is a good situation, but it also might be because you don’t know any better and think what you experience daily to be the norm for everyone, similarly to people living in a dictatorship regime who don’t even know about the possibility of living free so they’re content with their situation.

I’m not saying it’s your case, I’m not saying you should feel bad or that there’s something that doesn’t work the way it should. I’m saying you don’t really know how things should work because you only have your experiences to rely on, and your satisfaction might derive from not knowing what something should actually feel/be like in comparison to what it is.

When were you circumcised? I’m guessing as a child. Your own parents weren’t satisfied with your penis. It’s fine to accept that you were the victim of a irreversible religious genital modification without your consent and that it doesn’t define you and you won’t let it ruin your life. But making a point of arguing that you’re actually totally okay, that other people are obsessed with your penis specifically and that circumcision as a whole isn’t that bad and kind of passively endorsing it is not fine and betrays a much deeper insecurity on your part than whatever accusations you’re projecting onto me. Nonmedical circumcision has been condemned by the overwhelming majority of the world for centuries, and continues to be so today
