I think it was Edward Snowden who used the description “turnkey dictatorship” for the systems that were built.
That seemed odd in 2013. Now, it is scarily prescient.

Easier to distrust an industry when it‘s not very domestic.
Then distrust Meta and give up WhatsApp and IG.
