The oldest tech I have are laptops from 2006, 2008 and 2009, a pc from ~2010 and an android phone from around 2012. I also have lots of newer stuff.
I’ve already built a home server from the most suitable pc. What other real use cases for old tech would you suggest? What is your experience?

Can you hook your smart doorbell up to an old analog actual chime?
My Father-in-Law picked up a smart doorbell that did actually hook up to the existing analog system. Works great. It’s certainly possible.
I guess, but I don’t have one.
The house came with a wireless button and chime that plugs into the wall. I think I might have some 430MHz raspberry pi HAT the could trigger that chime, but it feels like more work for a more fragile setup.
Couldn’t you just wire the GPIO to the solenoid (maybe through a relay if it needs higher voltage)?
(Or for that matter, use an ESP32 instead of wasting a whole Raspberry Pi on it?)
I could, if I had a physical chime and not just a speaker that plugs into the wall.
The topic was that to do with old phones and computers. I repurposed what I had at hand.
