      Do you regularly have ‘wanting to please your parents’ define your actions as an adult?
      You’re supposed to have your own moral scaffolding and motivation in place by then, it’s a rather large part of growing up

        My parents are dead. But pretty much everyone I have never known who has them be alive, very much considered how their actions will impact their parents admiration for them, yes.

        No, you’re not. You’re supposed to inherent from your parents/culture/community. If you ‘build your own scaffolding’ you’re a outlier and likely detached from your community.
