American here: my high school used to sell lunch milk in clear hand-sized square plastic bags. We were expected to successfully pierce only one side of the bag with a pointed straw.
The technique was… learned. Some people took a while to master it.
Oh man I remember those milk bags! But I had them in elementary school, they were phased out long long before I made it to HS.
After you finished the milk, assuming you’d done so successfully (a lot of kids weren’t trusted to pierce their own), you’d inflate it and shove the straw through the other side to make a balloon on a stick!
Yeah, and extruded plastic too… I’ve never quite got how they got it, I think they’re a subsect of the true Amish. They’re allowed to interact with us heathens, as long as it’s to take our money lol
