Sometimes I can’t tell if these decisions are greed, or just rich people trying to make the world a more miserable place.

There’s going to be massive ‘attempts’ to crack down on piracy soon, because in this economy, a lot of people are going to just stop putting up with this (and when I say a lot, I don’t even mean close to the majority, but even optimistically 5% of people dropping this stuff would be huge).

it’s greed. all greed. gotta keep the numbers going up. they’ve already sucked-up all the interested viewers so significant subscriber gains are out… only ways that are left is to shed content (which they’ve done–just flat out delete their own shit and not even shop it around) and raise rates like they do whenever their cfo takes a dump.

The problem is that streaming cannot be profitable at scale. Not for a company that considers it a delivery channel instead of its own branch of tech, marketing, etc.

And once you can’t offset the expenses with the constant increase of user numbers… this happens.

it never was from the get-go, they thought it would be an endless supply of subbing from covid. also hard to stay when the seasons are so short, and very long hiatuses in between.

i think cracking down on privacy is already in the works, but hasnt fully formalized by the gop yet. they will probably try to sneak it intoa bill when nobody paying attention.
