It all goes back to Proctor & Gamble. They sell you stuff and drive much of the advertising and tracking technology on the web. They have been at influence buying since people yelling from soapboxes along the riverfronts. They are in some part behind just about every influence and online trackin technology today.

Hopefully uBO gets this into its default filters soon. Even if you don’t use chatgpt, non-chatgpt sites embed a tracker.
I think on Firefox multi account containers add-on + temporary containers add-on should mitigate this sort of tracking.

As per the article, it is by itself not a new technology. Meta has been using this for years and is standard in the industry. So I’d wager most respectable browsers would have tracking prevention that stops this.
What is new, and what this article talks about, is that ChatGPT can attach your browsing habits to things you’ve shared with ChatGPT itself. As in, possibly very private details about you and your life.
