I remember there was some conflict between James and some random letter from Paul over which is more important, faith or works. Apparently, Martin Luther almost took James out the Bible over that or something else.
The churches took a bunch of books out.

I maintain most of these people aren’t believers, it’s just some sort of social cohesion that requires playing their parts.

I’m pretty sure that most of Paul’s letters are lost.
A bunch of old testament, then the gnostic gospels: Mary, Thomas, Judas, etc. Can’t say about Paul, I’ve not run across any, so far. But the Book of Adam and Eve was only discovered in the last handful of years, so who knows?
