The problem will solve itself when diesel runs out in a few weeks, from what i hear the whole fuel production system is strained to the limit, so a even a small breakdown will give ripples through the system.
I think we’d sooner see gas dry up than diesel. If it comes push to shove it’s a lot easier to replace gas vehicles than diesel, there’s simply no alternative for global shipping!

Diesel is already drying up. Local gas stations in my area have already stopped selling it at some locations, moreso in coastal cities as well.
Same thing is happening in Europe btw, 11% of France’s gas stations have run out of gas or diesel completely, with no signs of it getting better.
Experiencing a 1970s style fuel crisis is not on my bucket list.
