They could set caps by country, lol. Like 10,000 permits total for the season, Americans get 500. I would laugh really hard at the responses on YouTube and TikTok.
That’d see the daily visitors plummet, considering it’s sometimes over 20K a day which is like half the population. Hearing American is so common and hearing Italian is rare, since locals tend to all be working or stay away from the main areas until the Starbucks is finally empty. Plus Italians just avoid Venice, even with the regional/local pass.
If they cap the tour groups more to like 10 people, that would probably help.
