Because like so much of the IT field, most go for the easier thing to do and don’t have or are losing the skills to do these things themselves. A good photoshop is a rarity now, and often will get called AI slop because of it being good, so they don’t.

“This could have been a gimp” sends the wrong message to most people.
Most of the people here would read it and not skip a beat.
Photoshop is also a verb, has been for decades actually, meaning a use of photo editing software in general.
