after 15 years, iOS has finally caught up with all the main android features, such as
- very mid ui design
- kinda floaty feeling
- unpolished vibe android itself has progressed little, although it is rapidly achieving feature parity with iOS on “locked down user hostility”. overall both ecosystems look very appealing, energetic, and healthy, for shareholders
I get unbelievably angry using an iPad now. They’ve completely fucked up the file system and its impossible to know where anything is. By design. I hate modern computing so much.
It’s always been like that. I had one of the first ipads as part of a trial to see if they were useful for grading papers in grad school. No. It was completely fucking useless because the only way to open files for editing was through sixteen shitty cloud services that each app wanted you to use. There was no way to just download files, edit them, and then put them back on blackboard like a normal fucking computer. The whole ordeal actually made me angry.
Basically the only apple mobile device I actually used was a gen 1 iPod touch I instantly jailbroke so I’m not super familiar. I use a Mac mini only for music but osx is getting so shitty now I’m wanting to change again or go back to 10.5 lol.
Got a powermac g4 cuz I wanted one again (and it came with a CRT monitor I wanted) and I was blown away how smooth it runs with 512 mb of ram. We have truly gone downhill a long fucking way in 20 years. I remember when I was optimistic about tech.

Not to “My generation good other generations bad,” but Millennials and Gen X really grew up with technology as it was becoming impressively capable, but required a lot of technical know-how to use. It’s really apparent in the workplace: our fresh-out-of-college guys and ready-for-retirement guys alike come to people around my age when stuff isn’t working. Everything’s too easy now, and it’s hard to look under the hood. (Of course, there are still exceptions for enthusiasts, but you’re never forced to tinker with a raspberry pi.)

Its scary watching clueless parents give their children full reign of iPads and the corpo net. There aren’t enough tech literate parents out there to train kids how it all really works, and we know schools sure as heck aren’t. I am almost positive we will see the most ignorant generation since the boomers now. I fear for my future medical needs to be taken care of by Hunter who grew up with YouTube kids and only used the gibbity from age 4 and up.
As someone in a different professional environment I will tell you that Hunter will get fired and you will be served by geriatric gen x and then millenials until we figure out how to keep people from being so incredibly stupid that they can’t perform basic tasks, much less practice medicine or law or engineering
