Does anyone know if it has a headphone jack? It seems dumb to brag about having B&O work on the audio if not, but I am still thinking it won’t which will kill any interest in it.
Edit: I confirmed it does not have one. total junk
it’s not that much a minority as you’d think. just like desktop computers largely still use wires to connect mouse and keyboard, people want to have wired devices.
sure, like those supporting Palestine, doesn’t make them wrong. I hate not having a headphone jack, my Etymotic ear buds are 20 years old and still work superbly.
Have you tried a USB C to headphone adapter? They’re quite small and never have to leave your headphones. And you could set the phone on a wireless charger to charge and listen simultaneously. Would that be an option for you?
I assume you mean a 3a, I don’t believe the 3 still had a headphone jack. I held on to my 4a for as long as I could, but after their battery shenanigans it only lasted a few hours is very light use.
Due to not being able to get a graphene compatible phone with a headphone jack, I’ve been just using a DAP for the past year or so. It sucks needing to carry around a second device. If I hadn’t already gone this route it would have been an option and I could have just used a rom that let me switch off the radios.
well if that’s your hobby, maybe there is a reason for it… but those are actual cameras with good lenses and sensors. not phones made for the masses who won’t even have an idea how to use them.
You’re not going to get what you want here. Its abandoned tech. Not saying its better or worse, but they’re not going to add them back in. They dont want ungrounded analog devices plugging into their digital devices.
The vast majority of people want a jack connector, this literally why you can still buy a shit ass cable from one of the most evil company on planet earth
They already have a DAC since they have speakers. If s USB DAC can be safe then an internal one can safely be connected to analog outputs too. It’s just a connector.
But like, it doesn’t hurt you. It’s not like you have to choose between a phone that can do Bluetooth or a phone that has a headphone jack. Your opinion hurts us, bit of Orpington doesn’t hurt you. You see that right?
The charging port doesn’t break from plugging in the cable, it happens because the headphone cable gets pulled at angles and usb-c isn’t good at handling the stress from. I’ve literally had this happen. And yes, Apple’s dongle IS one of the best usb-c dongles. They have always sold it dirt cheap as a way to assuage the people that were angry at the headphone jack removal. I am surprised they haven’t raised the price after all these years; it has to be sold at a loss at this point.
I’m still, after several years, confused on why didn’t they make the USB-C connector circular. Wouldn’t have to deal with the whole “spin 1/2” issue USB has had for decades, and there wouldn’t be a “weird angle” for the cable to be pulled at, all angles would be equal.
I haven’t had it happen to a phone in a long time (though it did happen to the LG phone I had like two phones ago).
I’ve had it happen to another device that charges with USB-C (Focus V Carta 2). To the point where I had to buy a wireless charger (that itself needs to charge with USB-C so I have to make sure not to do it again) built specifically for the device and it’s the only way I can charge the device now.
Amazing device though. I’ve had it for like 6 years now and that’s the only part that stopped working. I haven’t inhaled combusted plant matter since.
Im sure the device is end of life after 6 years anyways, so that sounds about right. I personally havent ever had a usb-c port fail, but ive only been using iphones and pixels. Good workaround with the wireless charging though.
Um, so FYI there are multiple ways to charge some phones. Some can do wireless charging plus let the usb-c port use a 3.5mm adapter for a headset. Its a pretty decent solution.
How often you needed to replace 3.5mm female socket? I don’t think I ever encountered that (if there were issues it was always with the cable), but had to replace USB female socket several times.
Interesting, experience was that those were quite durable: 3 connections and then the port soldered into the board.
Any issues I seen were with the headphone cable and the jack.
I had a lot of issues with USB especially micro USB that just worn down after use even when your were careful. And because it is using digital protocol I had to remove and insert jack again until it clicks.

Minority of a minority of a minority.
Them and the “make it smaller crowd” too. A very small, very loud minority that fails to actually show up when such a product is released.
You’re getting downvoted but as a part of that crowd, I agree
When it comes to phone size that is not a main issue for me. The problem is UI that forces me to tap the top left corner to go back.
That’s because “make it affordable” is also an implicit ask with any sort of alike economy. And these companies are failing at hearing it.

You can still wire through the usb-c port
[…] does not want a built-in jack connector 🙃

No jack? Send it back!!
I strongly agree

Oh. I see someone else asked this. Never mind.
This is why I keep a pixel 3.

A phone repair shop could pop in a new battery. It wouldn’t be secure to use on the internet, but it’d be a good mp3 player :)

What a lot of whining over a stupid plug. You guys have absolutely no idea what it’s like to own a graphene phone.
Sorry I can’t hear you over how the bluetooth driver compressed your whining to 8kbps.
I wish you a happy tinnitus
I am on my second graphene phone, but nice try,
Got 2 myself, and 1 phone with lineage on motorola
All phones have headphone jacks if you buy a $10 adapter
We want it built-in, period
I honestly could not care less about it.
Good for you!
but the 5 cameras (6 with front) are soo worth it, right
Yes this must mean that I care about the cameras. Good point.
Yes, I care about the cameras. I do not care about the headphone jack, I almost exclusively use shokz bluetooth headphones.
there is no reason at all to put 5 cameras on the back.
and there’s no reason for me to daily carry three camera bodies and 6 lenses but here we are.
well if that’s your hobby, maybe there is a reason for it… but those are actual cameras with good lenses and sensors. not phones made for the masses who won’t even have an idea how to use them.
No. Period.
yes, period (we can do this all day, let’s go 😆)
No you want the vast majority of people don’t care at all.
Yes I want a built-in jack connector lmfao

You’re abandoned in this forum.

“people don’t care about good solutions”
Okay and that’s a good argument because…?
Here is one of the best adapters you can buy:
https://www.apple.com/shop/product/mw2q3am/a/usb-c-to-35-mm-headphone-jack-adapter
The charging port (aka USB-C port) isnt going to break because you occasionally plug in a cable into it.

It absolutely can.
Which model phones have their usb-c ports breaking?
I haven’t had it happen to a phone in a long time (though it did happen to the LG phone I had like two phones ago).

No the device works great, the port failed like 3 years ago.
The glass part is meant to be replaced and I’ve gone through a few but they’re like $30-40. The rest of the device still works just fine.
Engineers disagree.
Which ones?
Qualified ones? 😆
Such as?
The adapter is extra room and gives a joint point that can be bent and broken.
Built-in > Bolt-in.
Right. Much easier to replace an adapter than a built in 3.5mm jack.
Much harder to replace the built-in USB-C port and you also lose a lot of other features of the phone (such as… ya know… charging) in the meanwhile.
Really, AI has brought people intellects that low, even here on Lemmy?
Wireless charging doesnt use up a port. What AI is involved with my responses?
Who said anything about wireless charging? The only wireless my phone needs is the network connection.
Um, so FYI there are multiple ways to charge some phones. Some can do wireless charging plus let the usb-c port use a 3.5mm adapter for a headset. Its a pretty decent solution.
Wow now I have to spend extra on a crappy wireless charger that isless efficient than a billion cords I already have
Bummer dude
How often you needed to replace 3.5mm female socket? I don’t think I ever encountered that (if there were issues it was always with the cable), but had to replace USB female socket several times.
Ive seen quite a few slots pushed in too hard or bent sideways in my days
Interesting, experience was that those were quite durable: 3 connections and then the port soldered into the board.

I have this problem with USB C on my work’s Mac.
