I did try to search for the answer before posting, but I’m not the best at that stuff. Sorry if there’s already an answer for this somewhere.
I like to have separate accounts for stuff. I like to have one where I can discuss movies, and then another one where I can talk about video games, music, and basically all my other interests. It feels better to compartmentalize them this way. I didn’t want to go ahead with the idea without checking first.
I have over 10 accounts, though I only use one at a time. When I get to 1000 - 1500 comments, I abandon it and make a new one. Had to deal with a stalker in the past and I’m never putting my entire comment history under a single username ever again.
That’s a lot of emails to handle. Well, I guess not really, seeing as you discard them. What do you tell the admin when you give a reason to join on a new account? Do you just tell them the truth?
I don’t know how to word that in a way that doesn’t seem like I’m being sneaky, but I’m just wondering since it seems like it’s not really done in bad faith. It kind of feels like multiple accounts is encouraged if one of the purposes for decentralizing is anonymity, in a certain sense. Separate the forum into multiple pieces so the downfall of one part of it doesn’t spell doom for the rest. Cut off the infected limb, so to speak.

But it’s a necessary answer when creating an account. You know how the admins have to manually approve you?
It depends on the instance. On feddit.uk they just want to make sure you’re a real person.
