Joel Schumacher of all people. To follow Tim Burton. That’s like hiring Dean Koontz to finish George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series (Game of Thrones), or to pick up an unfinished Neil Gaiman series.
Ironically it’s Tim Burtons fault it went to Schumacher after his self indulgence with Returns. If he’d matched the tone of the 1989 movie (wildly successful) it could easily have been another hit.
That whole situation leads me to the unpopular opinion that the 1989 Batman was as good as it was because of Burton, yes, but importantly the other creatives and producers.
Yeah, I’m surprised to learn it still has a strong following. It was too pantomimish for me, but I made my own fan edit that’s about 45 minutes shorter and I find that more watchable. Different strokes, etc.
Michelle Pfeiffer is absolutely amazing. The range she has as an actor is unreal and I genuinely believe I am watching someone lose their mind when I watch that movie.

I think the penguin one has stood the test of time the best

I haven’t watched it recently but i really related to Catwoman 's arc, how it was kind of like an insanity and compulsion

He was a good director though. It’s just that he wanted to do Batman with nipple armour.
