It isn’t the most extreme rollercoaster in existence, like people seem to be implying. At a peak of 4 G’s, that’s in the median for a rollercoaster. Meaning, there’s nothing unusual about the G-forces of the X2 and nothing out of the ordinary was found about it. There are rollercoasters that go up to 6 G’s which aren’t causing people’s brains to explode.

Isn’t it more likely the deaths are coincidences? If 4 G’s was enough to cause fatal brain bleeds, then I’d assume stunt pilots, astronauts, and fighter pilots wouldn’t exist. And you can’t train your brain not to bleed.

What’s actually going on here? The ride was retired earlier today, as well, due to the pressure of the lawsuits: https://www.cbsnews.com/losangeles/news/six-flag-magic-mountain-x2-roller-coaster-closure/

I’m asking on Lemmy because when I tried to make an account and post on r/rollercoasters it got auto-modded, so fuck that.

Brain injuries from what? It’s been established that 4 G’s can’t cause brain-bleeds. 4 G’s is average for a rollercoaster. Some even go up to 6 yet these 6 G rollercoasters aren’t causing brain-bleeds.

    Keyword here is “allege”.

there’s nothing unusual about the G-forces of the X2

So this is disingenuous, the whipping motions that the riders experience on the x2 are much different than the higher g shockwave https://rollercoaster.fandom.com/wiki/Shock_Wave_(Six_Flags_Over_Texas)

You can see the way the track is designed, the riders are pushed down and back into the seats with a gradual increase in force on the highest g loop.

I’d agree with you that 4gs isn’t enough to harm a healthy adult, but the attraction has a responsibility to provide an accurate presentation of the risk and should account for riders that unknowingly are at risk. If they aren’t accounting for riders that have an invisible abnormality, they shouldn’t operate the ride.

There’s no marketing material on these rides that say “only ride if you do not have any abnormal cardiovascular physiology” and if they did I’d wonder what kind of screening they expect their riders to pass.

You don’t have to study neuroscience to realize that higher G rollercoasters aren’t tearing people’s brains open and 4 G’s is merely average for a rollercoaster.
