I’ve always said, AI is going to destroy human culture. Once enough of these talentless hacks get their sweaty little hands on a prompt, everything creative will evaporate from our lives and be replaced by this sterile homogenized bastardizaton of what we once were.
Essentially we will reach the uncanny valley of human culture.
And at this point, there is no going back. I’d guarantee that young people are already seeing no point in bothering to lean musically instruments, or traditional art.
I think creating art is a goal onto itself and it’s something people will do regardless of AI. Like, if I like to write, the act of writing is the important part, more than the end result. Similar for music, movies, etc. For all the ai generated slop that’s out there, there will always be that person who enjoys picking up a paintbrush and going to town.
The problem is, that person that picks up the pain rush will have no outlet for their craft because all the hacks will do it for scratch and people will become so accustomed to the slop that it will look/sound perfectly fine to them.
Not all of them. I’ve got three school aged kids, one plays guitar and saxophone, one plays clarinet and trumpet, one is just starting the trombone.
If anything, I am seeing the kids push back against this shit. My kids have an ear for and hate ai produced music; they get so angry about “clanker music”. They really value being able to make their own, and I love the constant noise of real instruments being practiced in my house.
Lots don’t care, but there are still many pockets of kids who hate all this as much as we do, and are pursuing a more analog lifestyle.
Bingo. How I see it too, it’s why I became a a leader in my kids activities too. Figure I might as well do whatever I can to help build a better generation.

Man. The future is BLEAK.

The future is fucked.

This is great to hear! And damn good parenting my friend.
Thanks bud, I’m trying. Shit ass world to do it in, but them and a lot of their friends give me quite a bit of hope.
I’m with you comrade. It’s tough raising a kid in this world but as far as I see it we’re playing the long game now.
Gotta believe that our way of doing things wins out over time. Along with other, more direct, strategies.
