I get a bit sad? when I think about how all those voters disillusioned with Labor and Liberal are turning towards one nation without even having a thought about the Greens.
Surely you’re not surprised, though? One Nation’s biggest rallying cry is “blame immigrants and non-whites for everything”. People who consider voting for a party that espouses that ideology were never going to support The Greens.
That is a majority stake in what they sell, but you can’t go past the fact they also sell easy solutions to complex problems, combined with a lot of outright lies. I think that there is also so many punitive measures for people that at already struggling economically, who are there through no fault of their own - that a portion of the One Nation vote are just happy to burn it all down, cause they can’t see how it could be worse for them.
I guess but now I’m more sad 😢
Well it does say something very sad about Australians, unfortunately. Nothing we didn’t already suspect, so in that sense I appreciate that the mask is finally off and people are being honest about how awful they actually are.
