minus-squareEndmaker@ani.sociallinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up85·edit-21 day agoPokemon FireRed (and LeafGreen) does this! By the way, these “flashbacks” aren’t static images. Your player sprite would be animated doing the last thing it did in that frame! Also, the controls are simple enough in this game. No need for any tutorials.
minus-squareStock53809@lemmy.todaylinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up4·16 hours agoEven though you say that, there is a tutorial for the controls. Funny though, I forgot which button it is. 🧓
minus-squareEndmaker@ani.sociallinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up2·16 hours ago forgot which button it is I believe pressing either L or R works.
minus-squarespacegoat@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up24·edit-21 day agoThis was such a great implementation. I want this in literally every game.
minus-squaredegen@midwest.sociallinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up10·1 day agoThe best part to me is how it emulates the anime recaps
minus-squareAxolotl.cpp@lemmy.dbzer0.comlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1·24 hours agoI think it’s the opposite (unless fire red specifically is inspired by the anime?)
minus-squaredegen@midwest.sociallinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1·22 hours agoI was gonna say all the games were but I forgot red and green came out first lol I’d assume fire red was mirroring the anime, though. I mean there were definitely anime recaps before it
minus-squareAralakh@lemmy.calinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up9·1 day agoAhh nostalgia! The last ones i played, next thing i know they’ve got pokemon modelled after a garbage bag.

minus-squareAralakh@lemmy.calinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up3·edit-21 day agoDamn, that’s a cute name. I could imagine a street dog with it.
minus-squarefvlegacy@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up5·1 day agoThere’s a journal feature in DPPt too! Not as dynamic as it was in FRLG though
minus-squaremr_account@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up4·edit-21 day agoYou beat me to it. As soon as I saw this post I immediately thought of FRLG, which are probably my favorite Pokémon games. The only change I would make would be to implement the phys/spec split
