Who could ever guess that clucking to the left and laying eggs to the right would eventually have a price?
i think milei was a project to introduce a new far right into latam. i don’t really think there’s anything special or different with him than with other rightists to be honest, except for the show. their policies are literally the same as the ones from menem (the bastard who caused the 2001’s crisis) but with all of his deliria and perfomance it allowed for the same kind of shit to be socially accepted in other countries. now the same kind of dickhead exists on chile, this fuck on brazil, and so on. it’s the blue wave.
Milei is the new Pinochet.
pinochet wasn’t sanctioned by the US…and pinochet kinda knew when to stop the chicago boys before their “shock therapy” made people too angry
I think this new wave started with Bukele actually, he gained a lot of fans through social media and other new far right politicians build their campaign following “the same tradition”. Milei, as well as others like Noboa and Peña (from Ecuador and Paraguay), has contributed to amplifying it beyond absurd.
At least Jones Manoel got elected as state senator in Pernambuco
Not a senator, he is elected to the lower house.
I’ll be watching him closely, but I don’t feel that confident in him. He surely says a lot of right things, but his practice has been lacking. There’s some weight to the ones claiming that what he’s doing is entryism and oportunism, since he left the ML org he helped found. After he left, that org decided to support a Trot in the presidential election, so perhaps he wasn’t entirely wrong in leaving, but still. He is, simply put, not organized. He promised to find a suitable org after the elections, but he virtually got elected as an “independent”.
Hmm to me he seems like a person who has a lot of theoretical knowledge, but just doesn’t know how to effectively organise
I think that’s part of the problem. He has clearly dedicated his life to the study of theory, and he’s always kept himself close to the working class. He’s a great agitator. He has good insight based on dialectical materialism. But, at the same time, he allegedly can’t submit himself to democratic centralism.
When PCB expelled him and so many others, I share the perspective that PCB was in the wrong. And now, PCBR chose a line of denouncing Lula and his liberalism, and he decided to go against party decision. He did so for in this particular election cycle he had a real shot of getting himself elected. So he put himself above his party and left to join a ragtag team of socdems and trotskysts, who demanded he supported Lula in the first turn of the election.
Was PCBR an unhealthy org? Probably, given that the follow-up decision to denouncing Lula was to support (another) trotskyst party, one that celebrated the dissolution of the USSR in the 90s. Whether this means his decision of giving up disputing the party line was correct remains to be understood. But now he’s in a real awkward place: There’s no communist organisation in Brazil that wants the most successful agitator of recent times as one of its cadres.
UP/PCR are an old party, going back to the 70s, surviving the execution of most of its CC. They wouldn’t welcome a cadre they didn’t forge themselves, especially considering the level of party discipline they’ve managed to enforce. PCB wouldn’t have him back. He just left PCBR for disagreeing with the CC decisions. PCdoB is full socdem revisionist with absolutely no revolutionary praxis. PSTU is trotskyst, PCO is nazbol. So, in order to fulfill his promise of joining an org after election day, which one is he going to try to join? Is he gonna found a new one?
Smh 🤦🏾♂️ Electoralism in a nutshell
Not quite yet, they’ll have a run-off on the 25th.
Yes, we’ll have a run-off by the 25th. Either way, it’s a lost cause.
Two scenarios:
-
The Bolsonaro Son does take the seat, has his 4 year mandate, Bolsonaro Father is eligible again, or even, maybe, there’s Bolsonaro Wife or Bolsonaro (The Other Self Exiled) Son comes back from the US of A. 2030 will be fun!
-
Lula, through divine intervention, wins the election. He’s still dead in the water. Bolsonaro’s party, the Liberal Party (PL, in Portuguese), has a third of the Senate seats. Another third os from a hodgepodge of Right parties that are Bolsonaro aligned. As The Intercept said it better: “Bolsonaro will have ease in changing the Constitution, where Lula’d’ve had a hard time approving a simple budget law”.
I’m, as best as I can, telling people how electoralism has been (and already arrived) dead. We, the proles, the working class, cannot allow a single inch of rights to be taken from us. There’s nothing to be “negotiated”.
I hate social democrats so hard, so I’ll stop here, before I rant even further.
-
More copium for social democrats.
well…doesn’t look so good, but the plans of US look kinda weak: using computing hacks, bribes and bot-swarms just to have pretty thin victories to put unpopular vassals who just make the left governments that they defeated look even better.
i’m trying to not fall into doomerism, just thinking that things will be better and communism will prevail and will get with full force after defeating little fascists
They rely too much on the NSA psyops rather than just build material influences. Lenin’s Revolutionary Defeatism is based. It’s not doomerism, it’s actually hopeful.
1964 is coming back to haunt brazil
It’s not over though, it is possible for turn it around in the second turn of the election, it’s not looking easy but it’s not hopeless either
