I’m quite surprised nobody has mentioned Scotch. It’s revered by old dudes, with super expensive, hard to find bottles only pulled out for the most special occasions. No matter how expensive the bottle it always tastes like it was decanted straight out of Sasquatch’s butthole
Hard disagree, but the range of Scotch flavors is way higher than most liquors like whiskey. Buy 4-5 bottles from different regions, and you will find one you like. Or just go to Edinburgh, which is bucket list worthy without the Scotch…and do a scotch tour. Scotch, scotch, scotch, down in my belly.

Peated scotch tastes like burning tires smell. I hate it. Non peated? Lovely.
Sounds like you like Irish whiskey which is smoother and follows stricter rules
