I was a kid and had some classmates over for a slumber party. Unknown to me, at some point someone cracked open the top to my lava lamp and it somehow dribbled over the top and ruined my PS1. I can’t look at a lava lamp the same again.

Popped the soda cap top and put the little black lid back on that hides it. My sister and I shared a room and she needed the lamp to sleep so I had it turned on and I think that’s what made it overflow over night. The next morning, I was looking around for the source of this goo all over my console and the lava lamp was sitting on a shelf above the TV,

I checked for cracks and then splashed the whole thing when I picked it up and saw the cap sitting on the shelf right next to the lamp. I wish they had just said and I wouldn’t have turned it on that night. I was a poor kid and me having that console was a big deal at the time. My uncle won it at a poker game and we couldn’t afford to replace it. It was the nicest thing I owned at that time and owned for a while.

I never found out who did it. I’m grown now and got a PS1 for old times sake to emotionally right that childhood wound so I guess it all turned out okay in the end.
