CEO Dana White has long been an ally of President Donald Trump and his administration. Agents would be trained in hand-to-hand combat.
The FBI plans to offer the Ultimate Fighting Championship an exclusive one-year contract to train its special agents in hand-to-hand combat, according to a document released by the agency in September.
The UFC, according to the bureau, is “the sole qualified vendor” capable of providing tactical training that meets FBI standards. The justification for the contract cited the “expertise” the multibillion-dollar global media business has in mixed martial arts, striking techniques, grappling and takedowns.
The bureau said that market research determined that “no other vendor can provide comprehensive training encompassing all required skills at the necessary expertise level within the required timeframe.”

About 1/3rd wanted this.
1/3rd didn’t want this, and the other 3rd couldn’t give a shit, whether because they actually didn’t care or they were preoccupied and couldn’t.
Don’t let the 1/3rd who didn’t bother to vote off the hook. They’re just as responsible. A reminder that neutrality sides with the victor. That 1/3rd voted for Trump through abstenence.
Don’t let the billionaires, corporations, and corrupt politicians off the hook, for they are the reason why more people DON’T vote as civics aren’t taught anymore in school, Election Day isn’t a national holiday, vote by mail is being actively attacked by the Trump Admin, and racist gerrymandering especially in the South mean that people have one more barrier to voting via checking if they’re registered in their new political subdivision.
Any time asshats on Lemmy shame THE PEOPLE instead of THE ELITES that set this system up in the first place need to be thoroughly ramrodded.
FUCK that shit
Election Day isn’t a holiday here in Canada either, and we didn’t vote for a Maple MAGA candidate for Prime Minister. He had a 20+ point lead in the polls over Justin Trudeau and the Liberals. When Trudeau dropped out and Carney was elected to lead the party, the Liberals not only won the election, Poilievre didn’t even win his own seat and needed to run in a bi-election halfway across the country. While he won that seat, he lost 15 points the previous MP had won.
Billionaires, corporations, and corrupt politicians aren’t unique to America. They exist everywhere. And yet what’s happening in the US is somehow mostly a US problem. While they are certainly still a plague on America and the world, don’t let people’s complete lack of giving a shit a pass. 2/3rds of your country either voted for this, or just simply didn’t give enough of a shit about their fellow human beings to bother. Yes there is disenfranchisement. Yes there is intimidation.
That isn’t an excuse for just not trying at all. Gerrymandering gets erased when people vote. And not enough of you give a shit.
Y’all up in Canada were more than ready to turn the fascists loose on your Indian immigrants. You just didn’t like it when Trump turned the fascism around on you. Trying to frame it as a candidate issue is just laughable and dishonest and we all know it.
Yet Carney was voted in, a banker previously, and now he wants to privatize health care, public transit, among other things. Really great job voting in a neolib that only cares about making his donors richer.
No, but chattel slavery was unique to USA, the racist fallout of which we’re still dealing with today. It’s also a fallout that billionaires, corporations, and corrupt politicians actively try to push, co-opt, and proliferate.
From Lyndon B. Johnson, “If you can convince the lowest white man he’s better than the best colored man, he won’t notice you’re picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he’ll empty his pockets for you.”
People in the US are experiencing the worst wages in decades while elites and corporations are seeing the most profit. Union participation is the worst it’s been in decades. Car culture + suburban sprawl + smartphone usage mean that more people are divided and atomized than ever before in the US. The introduction of technology and AI into schools, defunding of public schools in favor of charter/private schools, and the increasing rates of censoring books and other information from public and school libraries means that students and young people are increasingly failing to receive a proper education.
These are all aspects of systemic forces actively dumbing and beating down the poorest communities in the USA to the point where they don’t give a fuck, or are convinced that Republicans are the better choice since Democrats are controlled opposition.
You might think that what’s going on in America isn’t unique, and you’re right because the same far right, fascist forces are popping up in Canada, in Europe, in Japan, in Oceania, all across the world. There is an international wave of fascism growing EVERYWHERE.
But sure, keep on blaming the voter. It’s the easiest way for you to remove complicity, isn’t it?
I don’t care whatever other word vomit you typed out, I stopped reading here. No one in the Federal Government wants to privatize healthcare or public transit, especially “among other things”. If you want to spread your American ignorance, take it somewhere else. I’m aware that the Average American has a 6th grade education, you don’t need to show me your personal example.
I’m enjoying watching your country fucking crumble while morons like you claim “There’s nothing we can do about it” while criticizing other countries. Ignorant idiots like you deserve everything that is happening. I just wish your own moral failures didn’t affect the rest of us.
Just caught this while I was proof reading my comment. Yes, I will 100% blame the voter. Because when people like you blame billionaires, corporations, and misinformation, that takes the onus of the issue from the voter. “I didn’t vote because billionaires control everything so why bother”. You are literally just as much of the problem as all of them. You’re taking blame away from people. People, like you, who blame every problem on something else or someone else, and not take any responsibility for their own actions. Not voting is a CHOICE. A poor choice but a conscious decision.
If you want to blame everyone else for why you don’t vote, you’re an ignorant, uninformed, lazy piece of shit who shares all the blame with the rest of the billionaires and corperations.
