Now, increased demand for traditional fishmeal – which is made from small species caught in the open ocean – has sent the industry scrambling for alternatives.
The stuff being used to make fish feed is a byproduct of the poultry industry – it’s what is left over after the parts of the chicken consumed by humans and the remains used for cat and dog food have been removed.

Are you suggesting eating meat since birth changes you physiologically or that Skill issue?
Physiologically. Mostly gut biome I imagine. But I’m not doctor, I don’t know specifically what it is. I just know a non zero number of p… It may be an economic issue, being ablke to afford the right food.
The gut bacteria thing might make sense, but a lot of people transition. They would then have the new biome. Extra farting and all.
I think it’s a culture issue, as in the culture teaching you what works and what does not, etc. in terms of eating habits and recipes. Maybe once a robust culture forms around eating vegetarian food where you live, then maybe all the doubts might go away.
I don’t know, it’s an educated guess. I know they aren’t richer in India, and they are doing fine.
I’m not talking about doubts. I’m talking about a group of people who have done it for years, and at some point noticed problems. They go to the doctor and find deficiencies in their bloodwork. Then go to a nutritionist to try to correct for it. Eventually they try eating fish or something for a few days and see improvement, seemingly overnight. They then have meat meals once or twice a week, and do fine on that.
Certainly we eat far more meat than we need, and the vast majority of us should cut back. But the insistence that meat should be or even could be, entirely eliminated from everyone’s diet today if we all decided to, is just wrong. But if everyone cut back, even to half, perhaps the awful industrial farming conditions could be improved. That would also take some economic policy changes to make happen, but maybe.
I agree eating meat can have good affect on people’s health. I don’t agree it’s a simple ‘eating meat is always better’ deal. I personally know people who have trouble with animal protein. Also let’s not forget the deleterious effects of eating red meat.
I’m not trying to be ‘but what about the bad effects too!’ person. I agree that eating meat can be good for you. I just also think that a whole nation of people eating vegetarian meals all their lives goes to show that it is possible and normal. I also think that a lot of people in that nation would benefit from eating meat, as you pointed out.
It’s not a question of nutrition.
