Okay, but horror movies are, by and large, hilarious.

It’s why I can never get into horror.

Either it fails at being horror and is – at best – unintentionally funny, or it succeeds in making me scared. Either way, I have a bad experience.

      There’s three types…

      1. Cheap horror relying on jump scares. Literally unavoidable fear, not crafted.
      2. Regular horror. Uses the science of fear. It’s not “scary”, it’s more a disturbing thought of plausible reality.
      3. Hilarious/Entertainment horror. Over the top gore, ridiculous scenarios/situations.So disconnected from reality it’s almost light-hearted.

The third is probably the most loved in general. But there are somehow people that still get drawn in like it’s two. Or they’re just really young.

There are definitely horror movies/stories that will make me scared of whatever boogeyman is in the movie jumping out at me. And those aren’t the jumpscare ones. It even happens with ones that are more on the funny side (fucking the mist did this for a short period of time after and i was kinda just laughing at it all the way even if it was trying to be serious)

That’s why I say I don’t like horror movies far more than the cheap jumpscare ones being annoying. Though also pure gorefests never even registered as horror for me, even if I think they’re kinda boring.

But then I’ve also found that I really like psychological horror actually because it is in fact not scary at all outside of caring for the characters and very easy for me to seperate.
