If you ever use a iPhone or iPad you’ll see it follows a model of apps being sandboxed to their own folders, and even the file manager is not a real one, it’s just a hobbled little BS
They do their best to get rid of any structured file management.
You can’t even access anything but the user documents folder in default Finder anymore.
Its worse on iphones, I was trying to manage a previous staff members iphone recently, and what the phones file browser, windows, and Linux could see were all different, and the phone file browser couldn’t actually access some of the folders Linux could.

Uh what? Are you saying you “cannot access” anything else because you have to give permissions when asked? Either way it’s patently false. And I’m not a fan of 95% of the things apple does, so don’t think I’m just blindly defending them. I use a Mac for work but I’d rather it be Linux.
I think it is also wrong, apple has never been do more for less, I think OP is dreaming, the get rid of files is because iOS’ file browser isn’t a file browser, it is like Samsung’s file browser, it tries to abstract away the idea of an hieracarchial filesystem which is just a horrible non sensical idea and is actively harmful to their users
I’m curious what you mean, because my phone has a perfectly usable file browser. By default it creates a data folder for each app, the same way Windows programs can create a directory in your user Documents folder for their data. In fact, there are some things that Apple’s file browser actually does better. For instance, the iPad has native pdf support, complete with markup, signing, combining multiple documents, etc… All available directly in the file browser.
Is this just a shot at apple or did I miss something and they’re trying to “get rid of files”?

It’s a search bar that sometimes won’t find a file even if you give the exact name.
